“Ace?” The girl gasps.
“Do I know you?” I ask.
“Now, now, this is no time for a romantic reunion, though it is touching. We have things to do.” The man in the lab coat stated.
Somehow I know that she has the power to fix me, to restore my memory. “You can fix me. I can help you.” I told her.
“No. I did what I did for a reason. It’s better this way.”
Suddenly, she realized that she could use the same power against her captor.
“Come here Ace.” she said in a serious tone.
Realizing that the cell door was locked, she closed her eyes and unlocked it with one of her many powers.
The man in the lab coat paled.
“I could have left whenever I wanted.” she told him.
Grabbing my hand, she closed her eyes in intense focus. Her hand emulated energy. The man’s face slacked and he fell to the floor.
“What did you do to him?” I asked.
“He’ll be fine in a minute. I reset his memory, and that of the whole world. It will stop any future problems.”
I gasped and looked at her. “You can’t just reset the world. That’s not ethical- you shouldn’t be able to decide when to do that. These are people’s lives we’re talking about!”
“It’s better this way.” was her only response. She stepped over the man’s body and walked out the door.
Looking back at me, she said “Are you coming? We have a whole world to explore.”
“I won’t do it with you.” I responded.
Shrugging, she left, her face set in a solid stare, leaving me to contemplate her actions.
Should one person have the ability to decide things for the whole world? When do things get to a point when you don’t care anymore and end up hurting others in the process? What can we do to stop that?
All of this I wondered while walking out into an awakening world of chaos.
